Introduction
Here's a unique recipe for aloo paratha:
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- Water (as needed)
- Salt (to taste)
For the filling:
- 3 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt (to taste)
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
Cooking oil or ghee (for cooking the parathas)
Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, a pinch of salt, and water. Continue kneading the mixture with gentle strokes until it transforms into a velvety smooth dough, ready to be shaped into delightful parathas. Set the dough aside, covering it, and allow it to rest for a delightful 20-30 minutes.
2. In another bowl, mix the mashed potatoes, chopped onions, green chilies, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, salt, and fresh coriander leaves. Mix well to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.
3. Divide the dough into small balls, slightly larger than golf balls. Gently take one dough ball and press it down with your palms to flatten it. Sprinkle a touch of flour over it and skillfully roll it out into a petite circular shape.
4. Place a spoonful of the potato filling in the center of the rolled-out dough circle. Gently embrace the edges of the dough, gracefully enveloping the filling within, ensuring a secure and flawless seal. Pinch off any excess dough if necessary.
5. Dust the stuffed dough ball with flour and gently roll it out into a paratha. Be cautious not to let the delectable filling burst its flavorful boundaries, allowing your creativity to determine the desired thickness of the paratha.
6. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Place the rolled-out paratha on the hot pan and cook for a minute until you see bubbles forming on the surface.
7. Flip the paratha and drizzle some cooking oil or ghee on the cooked side. Cook for another minute, then flip it again and apply oil or ghee on the other side. Press gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking and a golden brown color.
8. Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls and filling to make more parathas.
9. Serve the hot aloo parathas with yogurt, pickle, or any chutney of your choice. Indulge in these delectable aloo parathas, savoring each bite as it brings you a delightful and gratifying meal experience!
Note: Feel free to adjust the spices and ingredients according to your taste preferences. You can also experiment with adding other ingredients like grated ginger or garlic to enhance the flavor.
